Welcome back family! Its your brother Clint D. Johnson reminding that the God we serve is awesome! Let's dive into to the second installment for 2020 of  Creative to the Core Blog and Digital Journal, where we explore art and more. Our focus at CTTC is the pursuit, exploration, and interaction of the realm of creative endeavors. Slip on and lace up as I continue my recall of this fantastic memory lane journey: Chronicles of the Faith Walker 30 Year Celebration.

The first  Faith Walker comic strip  appeared in a 1990 edition of the Los Angeles Community Circle Clipper
In 1990 I made 27, George H. W. Bush was president of the USA, Home Alone, Pulp Fiction, Dick Tracy and Die Hard were in theaters. Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O'Connor, Vision of Love by Mariah Carey, I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston were dominating the pop charts, a gallon of gas was about $1.15, and Faith Walker was conceived.

While sitting in a World Won for Christ Ministries service, that particular Sunday morning in 1990, the fiery sermon from Bishop Wayne S. Davis served as an inspiration as the word was processed through a comic book mind. The seed for a scripture quoting comic character began to germinate. I had roughed a few designs in my tablet, until landing on a clergy robe adorned with a cross that stretched the length of his garment. Being a bit style conscious, Faith Walker was originally given a faded flat top haircut and two-tone Gergio Brutini shoes...yes!

In order to take the Faith Walker to the next level, the printed page was key.  I reconnected with writer/publisher Annie Pierce, who produced a publication called the Los Community Circle Clipper. I had met Ms. Piece in my teens and had created art for her on several occasions. She had published earlier works of mine in the past; a superhero/sci-fi comic strip. In Faith Walker's original tone, the premise was a street minister using the scripture from the Bible to combat and bring a grounded perspective to his environment. She was happy to see that I was creating content with more redeeming values. Annie was excited for me and allowed a platform for Faith Walker in the pages of the Community Circle Clipper. Wow! God had opened a door that would impact my life for years to come. This was the beginning of the first four amazing years. This set in motion a series of events...catch me next week as I share more about the progression of the Faith Walker. Be on the look out for the launch of Faith Walker First Steps: Classic Comics from the Vault to hit the internet first Friday in February and shortly after a printed book of the same name. Until next time, keep the Faith!
Special thanks to Michele D. McIntyre AKA Chel E. Mac for edits.

Greetings Creative to the Core family- What's up.I'm back on the drawing table, your brother Clint D Johnson let you know the God I serve is awesome! Welcome to the first installment for 2020 of  Clint D Johnson's Creative to the Core Blog and Digital Journal where we explore art and more. The Allow me to introduce myself (read this like a late 80's rapper) "I'm the C to the to L to the I-N-T, God infused a real creative gene in me, from comics to music and poetry, a talent so valiant is my key." Our focus at CTTC is the pursuit, exploration, and interaction of the realm of creative endeavors.

As we kick off the second week of this new decade, we want to say Happy New Year and we are praying this new season finds you well. This episode of CTTC sets in motion of a series of installments that will relate to my comic strip /comic book character known as the Faith Walker. I'm through the roof excited as this labor of love, art and ministry became 30 in 2020! Our celebration verse comes from " I Corinthians 16:13  Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be courageous! Be strong!" I have a myriad of plans hopes and dreams and actions to celebrate the character's existence. We will keep you posted as we go. This idea goes waaay back to1990 when I was inspired by a life-changing message that had me going wow....thank, you Jesus. I remember sitting in the sanctuary of World Won for Christ Ministries in Inglewood California under the voice of the late Bishop Wayne S. Davis feeling as if I was the only person in the building. Imagine lights, thunder, angelic beings cascading across the ceiling of the temple as Davis delivers the word of God with his clergy robe swaying in the pulpit...in that moment the thought was why don't superheroes quote scriptures in battle and the robe-wearing, scripture quoting action-hero was conceived. After service, I could not shake the concept and began to render a rough sketch of this soon to be the hero that gives God the glory. My comic-book mind had been influenced by the Holy Ghost! What was I to do? How was I to answer this call that wasn't traditional ministry and in a different lane than the average comics fanboy? Come back next week as I continue the chronicles of the Faith Walker 30 Year anniversary. Until we meet again, blessings to you and yours. I hope that you are feeling this post. Please help me build this blog. I will select five random people to draw as superheroes who subscribe to my blog- simply join and share right now! So until we meet again, be thankful, grateful, tell a friend and stay creative to the core..

What's up everybody I'm back on the drawing table, your brother Clint D Johnson let you know the God I serve is awesome ! welcome to the first installment of Clint D Johnson's Creative to the Core Blog and Digital Journal where we explore art and more. Let me give a special shout-out to Black Business advocate Crystal Mitchell and Digital marketing guru Armand Santos over at the Urban League Los Angeles's Digital Marketing class for assigning this blog project. This dynamic duo is providing the instruction and inspiration to actually start our blogging.

Okay, its been way too long (embarrassing long) since I've actually posted to my blog I'm following up with a challenge from from my instructor Armand Santos to create a tutorial. Since I am an artist, he urged me create a vlog/live stream of a tutorial. Once the live-stream is complete, save that footage and re-purpose it as a Youtube video and top it off with a blog about project and embark upon a weekly routine. Armond's point was for me to get over what ever is holding me back. The only way to do it is to do it. So I'm gung - ho to press ahead. I called my tech genius buddy Alfredo Tigolo of Just Text Al streaming service. Al had assisted me before in my online streaming. Goal was to do a tutorial, I used obs a free software that allows the user to record and stream live to multiple platforms. Ready set go , I'm on air , off and running creating a tutorial of a mans face. Using basic shapes as circles ovals to construct the desired image. As I'm drawing, I begin to interact with my Facebook audience, likes , thumbs ups, hearts and happy faces are in full effect. Im feeling pretty accomplished. As I'm closing what appears to be a successful broadcast I close out to find out that Facebook did not save the footage. What?!! Nothing was archived for me save and upload to Youtube. Cant really express the unfavorable emotions that were running through me.(Sigh). Not sure why it didn't happen, I had to view this as a learning opportunity,

A few days later we were on line at it again.
I was drawing logo project live in a program called Clip Studio assisted by my wacom intuis tablet. Alfredo logged into my system remotely with remotedesktop.google.com/access/ We set up Obs to stream to Facebook and Youtube simultaneously.

My notes looked like this: 1 obs
2 restream
3 enable stream now options 12-7-2019 at 7:40 pm
24 hours is 12-8-2018 7:40 pm

4 OBS to connect to restream io
5 Configuring OBS settings
- check mike levels
Starting lives treaming from computer / tablet with obs
open obs.

A little bit more happened as I was on both platforms. While attempting to work on my buddy Mike's drawing I was subject to this cool and awkward experience...watching me stumble and fumble to find my way into the digital marketing space. See you next week as I start my actual drawing tutorial, until then blessings to you and yours.

Greetings fam, welcome to the first installment of Clint D Johnson's Creative to the Core Blog and Digital Journal where we explore art and more. Let me give a special shout-out to Black Business advocate Crystal Mitchell and Digital marketing guru Armand Santos over at the Urban League Los Angeles's Digital Marketing class for assigning this blog project. This dynamic duo is providing the instruction and inspiration to actually start our blogging, You-tubing, IGing, DMing, and streaming, in addition to some other cool stuff to bring a brother into the 21st-century marketing and communications.
For those who don't know I'm probably best known in the Los Angeles area as CDJ for illustrations, logo designs and book covers designs. We will definitely visit client-driven projects here. As I think back over my creative journey, way back in the day go I used to work as  the cartoonist for Holman's Black Achievers. The newspaper captured work featuring African-American leaders. This was back in the late 80s early 90s. Over the last almost two-plus decades, I'm primarily known for being the creator of the Faith Walker comic book/ strip character in which I write and draw most of the content and have had the pleasure of publishing over the years. Faith Walker is Christ-centered superhero type in a sin-ridden city. He and his gifted team of agents encounter transgression themed terrors and combat darkness all the while shouting “for the kingdom!” I have been fortunate to assist others in bringing their creative character driven concepts to printed page over the years.

My latest dabble in the realm of comics and cartoons is “Sonny and Raynae,” a strip that loosely based on the antics and adventures of my younger sister and I. People say write what you know or write what you love, this is both. The episodes are based on childhood activity from pillow fights to cleaning up the house at the last minute before my mom arrived home from a hard day's work. The Sonny and Raynae comic strip currently appears in the American Dream News published by LA's own Dr. George Hooks. Hold on for the ride, I'm excited about the possibilities of that relationship.

Creatively speaking, February has been a really focused month; motivated by the energy of Black History Month, I began to draw images inspired by figures rooted in black experience. So far I've found a little time to crack open my sketchbook and render a few of my real life heroes.
"So far I've found a little time to crack open my sketchbook and render a few of my real life heroes."
This project is so significant that I'm certain it will go far beyond the month of February. Moving forward my goal is to spotlight colorful creatives and their works from actors to animators, painters to poets and other talented types. I hope that you are feeling my first post.
